Mike Birbiglia announces ‘The New One’ tour with dates

Mike Birbiglia The New One tour 2017

On the heels of his latest special Thank God For Jokes, which debuted on Netflix in early March, Mike Birbiglia has announced a new summer-fall tour appropriately titled The New One.

Birbiglia’s tour kicks off in July with a run at Montreal’s Just for Laughs as part of Jack Astor’s Solo Series followed by a whopping 15 shows at Berkeley Rep in August. Things really heat up in September as the comedian makes stops in St. Louis, Milwaukee, Seattle, Denver, Los Angeles, Portland, Detroit, Chicago and more, prior to closing things out with a show in Atlanta in mid-December.

“If you liked Sleepwalk With Me and My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend and Thank God For Jokes then I think you might just love The New One,” Birbiglia stated in the tour announcement. “It’s the best one by my estimation for reasons that I will not explain for fear of giving any of the show away.”

Birbiglia is what some may refer to as a comedic workaholic. His latest film Don’t Think Twice, which he wrote, directed and starred in, debuted in July of 2016 to critical acclaim. Soon after, he toured his one-man show Thank God For Jokes in over 100 cities and ran it off-Broadway for 17 weeks before subsequently filming it in Brooklyn for the above-mentioned Netflix special. (P.S. It was heartfelt and funny! … read our complete review here.)

In January, Birbiglia then launched his Working It Out tour, booking small, intimate clubs and performing untraditionally loose and semi-improvised material — a definite novelty for fans. With a handful of dates still ahead, the tour doesn’t come to an end until mid-July… just in time for the comedian to get back out on the road for The New One.

Tickets for The New One are now on sale. See a complete list of tour dates below and click here to pick up a pair.
