Get a sneak peak at Jawbreaker’s ‘Don’t Break Down’ documentary

We are still months away from Riot Fest’s return to Chicago’s Douglas Park on September 15-17, where New York pop punk group Jawbreaker will reunite after disbanding more than 20 years ago. Helping tide fans over is this new exclusive sneak peak of the band’s documentary film Don’t Break Down, courtesy of Riot Fest.

The above clip sees the band discussing their visit to Chicago, where they would record 24 Hour Revenge Therapy in 1994 with producer Steve Albini (Surfer Rosa, In Utero). Watch as the group detail their starstruck mindset going into the collaboration while, on the flip side, Albini admits to confusing Jawbreaker with the band Jawbox.

Jawbreaker dissolved back in 1996 following the release of their 1995 album Dear You on DGC Records. According to a press release, Don’t Break Down documents the band’s coming back together for a studio visit in San Francisco in 2007 and details the punk trio’s rise to fame and the resulting struggles that came with it. The film includes additional interviews with Billie Joe Armstrong, Jessica Hopper, Graham Elliot, Josh Caterer and Chris Shifflet among others.

While no official trailer or release date have yet been announced for the Don’t Break Down documentary, Jawbreaker is scheduled to take the stage for their headlining performance at Riot Fest on Sunday Sept. 17, following Nine Inch Nails on Friday night and Queens Of The Stone Age on Saturday.
