Stand-up comedy specials slated to debut in October 2017

October Stand-up Comedy Specials

October is upon us. And, for many, that only means one thing… winter is coming. Luckily, there will be plenty of laughs to help combat the dismal moods that so often coincide with dropping late-year temperatures as several comedians are slated to premiere stand-up specials throughout the month.

Though fewer than last month, October promises to offer another solid block of comedy beginning with country comedian Rodney Carrington, whose latest special, Here Comes The Truth, debuts on Netflix this Oct. 3. The writer-singer-comedian recorded the hour-long at the Polk Theater in Nashville, TN back in 2016. Lebanese/American comic Nemr Abou Nassar will follow with the debut of his special No Bombing In Beirut Oct. 7 on Showtime, in which he’ll riff on everything from war to family to the power of perspective.

Christina Pazsitzky, better known to her fans as “Christina P,” is set to debut her new special Mother Inferior — taped at The Showbox in Seattle — on Netflix on Oct. 10, setting her sights on millennials, Gen X survival and her husband and fellow comedian Tom Segura.

Patton Oswalt: Annihilation, recorded at Chicago’s beloved Athenaeum Theatre back in June, will debut on Netflix on Oct. 17. Annihilation follows Oswalt’s 2016 Emmy-winning special Talking for Clapping and will see the comedian examining social media and politics as well as discussing humor as a sort of therapy for the recent death of his wife Michelle McNamara.

Closing out October with a Halloween debut on Netflix is Judah Friedlander: America Is The Greatest Country In The United States. Clocking in at 84 minutes, the special — directed and produced by Friedlander in classic DIY fashion — will see the comedian talking sexism, racism, and, as the title suggests, a host of political topics.

September saw a whopping eight stand-up comedy special releases including Felipe Esparza’s Translate This, Marc Maron’s Too Real and Jerry Seinfeld’s Jerry Before Seinfeld.
