of Montreal to perform at Lincoln Hall 6/9 in support of new album ‘Lady On The Cusp’

of Montreal

Lady On The Cusp, the new studio album from of Montreal, is due to be released on May 17 via Polyvinyl Record Co. In celebration, Kevin Barnes and company are hitting the road on a headlining tour of the U.S. with Godcaster and Tele Novella serving as support on select dates.

The tour will begin in Athens, GA on May 31 before making stops in Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit and other great cities. There is a Chicago performance scheduled to take place at Lincoln Hall on June 9 and the tour will conclude in Asheville, NC on July 2.

Lady On The Cusp evokes a touch of nostalgia paired with the excitement of a new adventure as the album marks Barnes’ final transmission from Athens as they now reside in southern Vermont. On the single “Rude Girl On Rotation” – the video for which can be seen below – Barnes captures a low-fi groove inspired by the change in zip code.

“‘Rude Girl On Rotation’ was inspired, in part, by my impending move from Athens, GA to our new home in Vermont,” Barnes shared in a statement. “I used an open tuning on guitar that Nick Drake used a lot on his jammers. The bass line chugs along in a late 60’s West Coast rocker style, influenced by Canned Heat’s ‘Poor Moon.’ I wanted the song to sound loose and under-produced. It took the least amount of time to record, of all the songs on the album. I hope you like it!”
