With their Long Hair, Long Life co-headlining tour stop in Chicago on May 29, Briston Maroney and Peach Pit opened up the summer concert season at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island.
The viral TikTok hit “Freakin’ Out On The Interstate,” “Body,” and “Real Good Swimmer” – the last of which kicked-off the set – were all heard during Maroney’s performance. But, perhaps the most notable moment of the night came when Maroney handed-out a special prize to an especially enthusiastic fan.
“It’s not every night that we get to play live music in the beautiful City of Chicago, folks. And I’ve got to fuckin’ tell you, man, to me – it’s feeling like a real, real winner, winner chicken dinner, baby. And tonight for the first time in history, I would like to give one of the loudest-screaming, highest-jumping, craziest mother-fuckers a real life rotisserie fucking chicken,” he said before passing a cooked bird to an audience member in the front row.

Fans were full – in body and spirit – as they basked in the remainder of the explosive sonic experience of the guitar-driven set.
Peach Pit – the Vancouver four-piece comprised of Neil Smith, Mikey Pascuzzi, Peter Wilton, and Christopher Vanderkooy – also brought the sounds of summer to the lakeside venue. “Magpie” – with a touch of “War Pigs” – “Drop the Guillotine,” “Psychics in LA,” and “Black Licorice” were among the stand-out jams shared.

BNNY also added to the fun with a short, but satisfying opening set. This show certainly set the bar high for an amazing summer at Northerly Island.
