Post-hardcore/emo veterans Pierce the Veil are no stranger to an amphitheatre or large crowds. They’ve been making music and performing for upwards of twenty years now and early on, found success and popularity in the heyday of Vans Warped Tour, often attracting crowds too large for the intended number of audience members at the fest’s pop-up stages in venue parking lots. As a matter of fact, Pierce the Veil was present for several years of Warped Tour that took place at Tinley Park’s Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre, the same place this show would take place. Saturday, June 7th, Pierce the Veil performed there to a crowd of 26,000 people – The largest show they’ve headlined in their entire career.

Currently out on the I Can’t Hear You World Tour, Pierce the Veil is among friends with fellow Warped Tour warriors, Sleeping With Sirens, hailing from the opposite coast of the US but coming up around the same time as Pierce the Veil and receiving reverence from almost the exact same audiences. If Pierce the Veil and Sleeping With Sirens fans were put into a Venn diagram, it would just be a circle. So given their shared fanbases and legendary collaborations like 2012’s “King for a Day,” Pierce the Veil’s single from 3rd LP Collide With the Sky featuring vocals from Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn – It only made sense to bring them out on the road for this world tour celebrating their last 20 odd years as a band.

As doors opened and the venue loaded up with fans, it was evident that not only have these artists retained their fans among the decades, but they’ve continued to pick up new ones along the way. Generations from millennial elder emos to present day high schoolers filled the seats and the night ensued.

Sleeping with Sirens treated fans to favorites like “Do it Now Remember it Later” and “If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn” while Pierce the Veil closed things out with a set full of hits including “Bulls in the Bronx,” “Bulletproof Love,” and of course – “King for a Day” with help from Kellin Quinn. It was a great way to kick-off the summer concert season at Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre.
