Nine Inch Nails, QOTSA, Jawbreaker top Riot Fest 2017 lineup

Queens of the Stone Age QOTSA Riot Fest

Riot Fest has just unveiled their 2017 lineup with a knockout First Wave of artists including headliners Nine Inch Nails (closing Friday), Queens of the Stone Age (Saturday) and a reunion of influential 90’s punk band Jawbreaker (Sunday). The festival, which will announce another 25 bands in May, takes place Sept. 15-17 at Chicago’s Douglas Park.

The newly-unveiled Riot Fest 2017 lineup is packed with over 70 artists. Joining N.I.N, QOTSA and Jawbreaker is a solid second tier made up of New Order, Paramore, Prophets of Rage, Wu-Tang Clan, M.I.A. and Mike D of the Beastie Boys, the lattermost who will be performing a DJ set at the fest. Other notable names on the bill are gypsy punk rockers Gogol Bordello, indie rock band TV On The Radio, California-born skate punks Pennywise, Chicago rapper Vic Mensa, Taking Back Sunday, Ministry, Dinosaur Jr. and Bad Brains — celebrating with a 40th anniversary set.

Riot Fest 2017 promises to be another great year for the Chicago-based festival. As with previous years, the event will feature a full-scale carnival with rides and their freak and sideshow staple from Hellzapoppin’ — now with an expanded footprint. Festival organizers will also be announcing which select artists will perform one of their classic albums in its entirety, tomorrow (April 20).

Riot Fest 2016 was a raging success with memorable sets by Ween, Rob Zombie, Morrissey, The Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie and Meat Puppets. The festival was also solely responsible for reuniting punk legends, The Misfits, following a breakup lasting over 30 years.

Pick up tickets Riot Fest 2017 going on sale at noon CST today (April 19) and be sure to keep an eye out in May for the Second Wave announcement of artists.
