Bruce Springsteen schedules book signing & meet and greet with Chicago fans

Bruce Springsteen released his long-awaited memoir Born to Run this past September, after which he lined up a number of book signings and meet-and-greets in cities across the U.S. beginning with a stop in his hometown of Freehold, New Jersey. And just when it looked as though the book signing chapter of The Boss’ life was coming to an close, he announced another small slew of dates, including a highly-anticipated stop in Chicago.

Springsteen is set to meet with Chicagoland fans next week, the first of five new dates making up the extended leg of the musician and singer’s book tour. He is scheduled to meet with fans at Books-A-Million (located at 144 South Clark Street Chicago, IL 60603) on Monday Nov. 28 at 12pm. Check-in begins at 9am at which point those lucky enough to have scooped up a ticket will be given a wristband for entry. Admitted persons will receive a pre-signed copy of the book and have a chance to meet the man behind such hits as “Glory Days,” “I’m on Fire” and the song which served as inspiration to the book’s title, “Born to Run.”

Born to Run was released on Sept. 27. Prior, the memoir had been in the works since 2009, sometime after Springsteen and the E Street Band’s legendary Super Bowl halftime show performance. “I went back to what I felt was the beginning and slowly started to write,” The Boss said in regards to his writing his memoir. Constructing the final product, which Springsteen says was “very similar to the songwriting process,” took almost nine years to complete as, naturally, it involved quite a bit of rewriting. “You write down your first thoughts, which is a blueprint, and you see if you have something that can be worked on,” said Springsteen. “Then I’ll go back and I’ll get into each verse and I’ll rewrite it.”

Springsteen’s Born to Run, published by Simon & Schuster, is out now. Pick it up here in physical print, ebook or as an audiobook narrated by Springsteen himself and be sure to check out its musical companion Chapter and Verse, which features a number of Boss hits as well as five previously unreleased tracks.
