Jon Cleary to play Chicago in support of ‘Live at Chickie Wah Wah’

Jon Cleary

The Chicago area will soon be filled with the syncopated sounds of New Orleans as Jon Cleary (of Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen) is gearing up for a pair of shows at Wire in Berwyn on Aug. 17 and SPACE in Evanston on Aug. 18. The shows are part of a successful summer tour in celebration of the Grammy winner’s latest release, Live at Chickie Wah Wah, which dropped via FHQ Records this past April.

As the title suggests, Live at Chickie Wah Wah was recorded at the intimate New Orleans club during Cleary’s regular Tuesday night gig. “Sweet Jelly Roll,” “My Baby’s in Love with Another Guy,” “Things That I Used to Do,” “So Damn Good” and many more tracks capture the sonic experience of seeing a show in The Big Easy. The release marks his first solo endeavor and highlights the captivating sounds of Cleary and his piano.

Following the performances in the Chicago area, Cleary will travel to Saint Paul, San Francisco, Ridgefield and other great cities. The North American leg of his tour is set to conclude on Sept. 24 with a concert at The Hall at MP in Brooklyn, NY.
