On Nov. 16, 2018, Dweezil Zappa and his vastly talented backing band brought the Choice Cuts! World Tour to Chicago’s Vic Theatre. The performance celebrated and explored the legacy of Frank Zappa with a 30-plus song setlist of greatest hits, fan favorites, deep cuts and updated renditions.
Zappa’s face-melting guitar solos – which he unleashed with deceptively effortless precision – accented the show as the masterful gifts of Scheila Gonzalez (multi-instrumentalist), Adam Minkoff (vocals, rhythm guitar) Cian Coey (vocals), Ryan Brown (drums), Kurt Morgan (bass) and Chris Norton (Keys) were spotlighted throughout the night. “Andy,” “Honey, Don’t You Want a Man Like Me?,” “Dog Breath” and “Zoot Allures” were among the Zappa classics on the expansive setlist.
