Amanda Seales’ debut stand-up special to premiere on HBO Jan. 26

Amanda Seales: I Be Knowin' on HBO

Amanda Seales will soon join an elite club of comedians when she drops her debut stand-up special on HBO later this month. The new hour-long titled I Be Knowin’ is slated to premiere on Jan. 26.

Amanda Seales: I Be Knowin’ will see the comedian tackling a host of wide-ranging topic including catcalling versus compliments, womens’ “vagendas,” airplane window rules and workplace email etiquette. Seales shared her thoughts on the power of comedy and her upcoming HBO special in a recent statement:

“Being a stand-up comic is an honor I don’t take lightly, because I consider humor to be a superpower that allows us to bear the weight of issues and concepts that otherwise seem so much bigger than us. “I Be Knowin’ is 37 years of finding the funny, culminating in an hour, and my HBO family being the place where I get to share it, makes this, my first special, even that much more special.”

Seales has made appearances on a number of shows including Comedy Central’s @midnight, Netflix’ The Fix, Late Night with Seth Myers and Black-ish. HBO‘s Animals and Insecure are also among the comedian’s credits. She runs a weekly podcast “Small Doses” and is currently touring with the live comedic competition show “Smart Funny & Black,” which she created.

Amanda Seales: I Be Knowin’ was written by Seales and directed by Stan Lathan. The special was taped at the Edison Ballroom in New York City back in November. Check out the trailer below and tune into HBO for the premiere on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. CST.
