Bruce Springsteen announces new album ‘Western Stars,’ out this June

Bruce Springsteen’s first studio album in five years will soon be on store shelves and digital outlets everywhere. The new LP, Western Stars, which draws inspiration from ’60s and ’70s Southern California pop, is slated for a June release.

Western Stars was recorded in New York, California and New Jersey, the bulk of which took place in the lattermost, at Springsteen’s home studio. According to a press release, the album is made up of 13 tracks that “encompass a sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope.”

“This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements,” said Springsteen in a statement. “It’s a jewel box of a record.”

Ron Aniello produced Springsteen‘s latest, while also taking up duties on bass and keyboard, among other instruments. Patti Scialfa, who contributes vocal arrangements on four tracks, is among the more than 20 guests appearing on the High Hopes followup, along with Jon Brion (celeste, Moog, farfisa), David Sancious, Charlie Giordano and Soozie Tyrell.

The first single from Western Stars, “Hello Sunshine,” will be released just after midnight ET tonight. Check out the album art and complete track list below.
