Update: The Lincoln Lodge Training Center to offer more at-home comedy workshops & classes

Alex Kumin

April 22 – Update: The Lincoln Lodge has revealed that May classes will be moved online to keep the comedy fun going in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Alex Kumin is set to teach two rounds of Fem Com 1, beginning on Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 19, and Deanna Ortiz will be at the helm of Fem Com 2 when it begins its five week program on May 13. Stand Up Seminary, The Kates U: Comedy Storytelling, and Page to Stage: Storytelling for Writers will also be held online. Adam Burke, Amy Sumpter, and Carly Oishi are joining the Lodge’s teaching team.

Participants will receive a Zoom link the day before classes begin and more information will also be available via that link. One of the fun things about offering online programs is participants from across the country are able to learn from some of Chicago’s top comedians during these special online Lincoln Lodge classes.

While the doors may be closed at Chicago’s The Lincoln Lodge, in accordance with shelter in place ordinances, its Training Center has announced a series of comedy workshops where people can participate from home.

Alex Kumin will instruct a Fem Com comedy workshop series during which groups of five will gather for 75-minute sessions via Zoom. The idea is for working comedians to build out premises or further develop bits in a small, online group setting.

Each session, listed below, is available for a $5 suggested donation to directly support the instructors during the indefinite time of theater closure. Follow each link to sign-up for an individual session.
