Damon Albarn has revealed that his highly-anticipated second solo album, The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows, will be released on Nov. 12, 2021 via Transgressive Records. He also shared the album’s title track in conjunction with the announcement.

The Blur and Gorillaz musician borrowed the album’s title from the John Clare poem “Love and Memory.” The release was originally intended to be an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland but the events of last year provoked Albarn to return to the music to further explore its reaches.

“I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist,” Albarn said in a statement.

The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows will be released digitally as well as in the formats of limited edition color vinyl, CD and cassette. There will also be a deluxe version with additional photography, artwork and more.
