It’s fun to pop on a Chromeo album for an impromptu dance party, but nothing beats seeing the duo – comprised of Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel and David “Dave 1” Macklovitch – live in concert.
Now fans can enjoy the best of both worlds as Chromeo has released their first ever live album, Date Night: Chromeo Live!, via Last Gang Records/eOne. The album is comprised of live versions of Chromeo’s career-spanning hits all recorded during their 2019 headlining tour.
Proceeds from Date Night: Chromeo Live!‘s vinyl and merch sales will benefit the Touring Professionals Alliance and their TPA Kitchen program. The non-profit organization provides touring crew, entertainment venue staff and music industry colleagues with meals from some of the nation’s top restaurants.
“Last year’s been rough for everyone. It made us want to build fundraising campaigns into every one of our releases,” said P-Thugg in a statement. “We can get down and have fun to lighthearted party music and also get down for a cause.”
Dave 1 added, “We always toured as a duo, but on our last run, we put together a band of insane musicians. We told them ‘let’s make our stuff sound like late ‘80s, early ‘90s New Power Generation.’ It gave a new life to our entire catalog. We had a blast—it was over the top, but then again so is pretty much everything we do.”
