Wrong War to celebrate ‘Once Upon a Weapon’ with Jan 16 record release party

Wrong War

Wrong War has announced that they are set to release their new album, Once Upon a Weapon, on Jan. 14, 2022 via Atomic Action Records and Council Records. To celebrate the new music, the band – comprised of singer Matt Weeks, guitarist Patrick Keenan, bassist Dave Pawlowski, and drummer Dan Smith – are playing a record release party at Pub 78 in Brookfield on Jan. 16.

A two-track preview of the new material is currently available on Bandcamp. Once Upon a Weapon follows the success of the band’s 2020 debut, Fixed Against Forever.

“Where Fixed Against Forever was more about dealing with the new forms of division sown by these times and circumstances, Once Upon a Weapon takes a closer look at the associated consequences a bit further down the road. Repetitive and meaningless corporate messaging, distractions sapping our strength and intelligence, the death rattle of diseased thought, and the cult of victimhood are all things this album lyrically explores,” said Weeks in a statement. “We envisioned the album as a sort of sinister storybook that poses the question – who is holding the weapon doing you the most harm?”

The Mons and Daisy Chain are also on the bill for the Jan. 16 all-ages show and proceeds benefit The LeaderShop, an organization with a mission to “empower youth to become community-minded individuals through diverse programs that foster confidence, knowledge and leadership.”
