Playing what they said is their biggest show ever in Chicago at what quite possibly can be considered the hottest new concert venue of the summer, Lake Street Dive played Saturday, Aug. 13, to a sold-out crowd at The Salt Shed.

Since getting its start in 2004, Lake Street Dive has toured extensively, playing their soul-tinged rock and roll, with hints of bluegrass, folk, indie pop and jazz.

Their current lineup features vocalist Rachael Price, bassist Bridget Kearney, drummer Michael Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss and touring guitarist James Cornelison. The set featured performances of fan favorites “Hypotheticals,” “Good Kisser” and “Bad Self Portraits” as well as the fun and poppy sing-along song “You Go Down Smooth.” Known for sprinkling a variety of covers throughout their set, the Chicago stop featured a slower acoustic version of “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5 and a punchy cover of “Linger” by The Cranberries.
