Jesus really does love a primadonna and Nessa Barrett proved that at Thalia Hall on April 7th, 2026 during one of the 5 intimate stops she is doing! In case you weren’t aware, Nessa Barrett just dropped a new EP called “Jesus Loves A Primadonna”. I did check out the EP before covering her sold out show at Thalia Hall and honestly it is very different from her last 2 albums if you ask me and so was this show! This show and album are much…darker. It gave me at least Edgar Allen Poe vibes. Even for this show, there was no opener, instead guests came into the concert hall to see a four string quartet on stage playing random covers like stuff from Ed Sheeran or Lana Del Ray but it really did set the mood for the night. After their small set, Nessa is about to take stage but not before her band gets into position and an audio voiceover plays. It tells a story about a woman whose heart got broken and gave the ‘Death Becomes Her’ vibes. Once the voice stopped, two well dressed men came out, arm in arm with Nessa in the middle as her band began to play and her intimate set began.

This being an intimate set, it is very different. It is only an hour long in a very small venue, compared to past tours that Nessa has done. There are also only four stops, five dates which makes this even more exclusive and a must see! I even got to the venue early and talked to fans in line. One fan mentioned getting in line at the venue starting at 2 a.m. while another mentioned driving all the way from Kansas City to be here for this show since she has never missed a tour for Nessa Barrett.

Overall, I am so happy I was able to be in attendance for this intimate experience here in Chicago and I can not wait to see her open for The Neighborhood this summer!
