Watch: Dekkar turns patriot pop in new music video for ‘You Asked For A Hero’

Dekkar “You Asked For A Hero”

Dekkar is back in full force with their latest hit single “You Asked For A Hero,” featuring lead vocals by Axiom. The song, which dropped over the weekend, arrives eight days in advance of the Season 5 premiere of Decker: Unsealed and, likewise, highlights the beloved Adult Swim action series in the newly released official music video / unofficial trailer (seen below), which comes courtesy of TCH Productions.

“You Asked For A Hero” marks another turning point of sorts for Dekkar, whose prior hits include songs like the 2016 hit “Trigger Everything” and the ultra-popular “Empty Bottle.” While there’s no telling whether or not “Hero” can eclipse the latter’s immense popularity, the band’s choice to boldly embrace patriot pop this time around certainly appears opportune when paired with footage from the forthcoming season of Decker.

Tim Heidecker and company’s new politically-charged sound is only the latest evolution from a band originally rooted in rock. From the moody, blues rock sounds of the aforementioned “Empty Bottle,” to its MTV Unplugged-inspired acoustic version (which debuted live during the 4th Annual On Cinema Oscar Special) to the later-released EDM dance companion version “MT Bottle 2.0,” Dekkar have made genre shifting their official business.

If the music video for “You Asked For A Hero” is any indication of what’s to come in Season 5 of Decker, fans are in for an action-packed adventure of epic proportions. There are motorcycles, sniper rifles and a plethora of gun battles in the new season, which sees Klington — surely breaking more codes — and Agent Jack Decker taking aim at enemies, presidents and politicians alike.

So, Deckerheads, raise your flags, put your hands over your hearts and mark your calendars for the premiere of Decker: Unsealed (view trailer here), debuting June 4 only on Adult Swim.
