Laurie Kilmartin’s ’45 Jokes About My Dead Dad’ album out June 9

Laurie Kilmartin 45 Jokes About My Dead Dad

Comedian and Emmy-nominated Conan writer Laurie Kilmartin will soon be releasing her comedy album 45 Jokes About My Dead Dad. The album, which was first released as a comedy special in late 2016, drops June 9, via aspecialthing Records.

45 Jokes About My Dead Dad is the culmination of Kilmartin’s experiences in dealing with the death of her father, who passed away after a battle with lung cancer in 2014. Kilmartin, who dealt with the agony like most comedians do (creating comedy), live tweeted a series of jokes and one-liners throughout the ordeal, ultimately painting a brutally honest and painfully funny picture of her experience with losing a loved one. After working and reworking the material, Kilmartin ended up with 45 Jokes About My Dead Dad, which is essentially what it sounds like: 45 jokes centered around the death of her late father.

45 Jokes’ preceding comedy special debuted on Dec. 29 on the streaming service Seeso. The soon-to-be-released album, clocking in just shy of 42 minutes, offers listeners a tightly packaged audio companion of Kilmartin’s dark-humor-infused and cathartic set.

Laurie Kilmartin‘s 45 Jokes About My Dead Dad will be available this Friday on aspecialthing Records. Pre-order the album now on iTunes and Amazon.
