‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Season 9 to return in October, says J.B. Smoove

J.B. Smoove as Leon Black on Curb Your Enthusiasm

After a five year hiatus, Curb Your Enthusiasm is said to be returning to HBO on Oct. 1. At least that’s what J.B. Smoove, who plays Larry David’s freeloading roommate Leon Black in the series, recently told fans.

Word travelled quickly across the internet after Smoove’s appearance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia over the weekend, where he reportedly declared the Oct. 1st return of Curb Your Enthusiasm. He and Amanda Seales were at the event to introduce The Roots, when the actor and comedian made the surprise announcement.

Though he didn’t confirm any dates, Curb co-star Jeff Garlin, who plays David’s friend and manager on the show, previously discussed the series’ Season 9 return on Popcorn With Peter Travers, while promoting his new Netflix mystery movie Handsome. “It’s coming back with all the things about it that people love but it’s not following any big formula,” said Garlin. “The storyline is rather insane. Like people are gonna go, ‘I can’t believe they’re doing this.’ That’s what they’re gonna say. And I don’t often think that with our show.”

HBO has thus far not confirmed any hard dates so nothing is yet etched in stone for the series’ Season 9 start date. What we do know is shooting began back in November and most of the main cast are returning including the aforementioned David, Smoove and Garlin along with Cheryl Hines, Susie Essman, Richard Lewis, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.
