Watch: WPC aka Billy Corgan previews ‘Pillbox’ film with video for new song ‘The Spaniards’

WPC aka William Patrick Corgan aka Billy Corgan has just released an incredibly visual music video for his new song “The Spaniards.” The dreamy track incorporates acoustic guitar, piano, synth and a healthy dose of Corgan’s iconic yearning vocals. Check it out above.

“The Spaniards” official music video, as seen above, follows a man who must leave his lover and go off to war, after which he is seen inhabiting a pseudo-world of sorts incorporating costumed affairs, martial arts fights and more seen in the form of black and white vintage-style footage, colorful animation and a plethora of trippy effects. The combination of sights and sounds work seamlessly together to create an ethereal experience that functions across multiple levels.

The above music video for “The Spaniards” is made up of scenes from Corgan’s forthcoming silent film Pillbox. The film — written by Corgan and directed by his longtime collaborator Linda Strawberry — was inspired by a hero’s journey and is set to the music of the Smashing Pumpkins frontman’s soon-to-be-released album Ogilala.

Ogilala was produced by Rick Rubin and is slated for an Oct. 13 release via BMG. The debut of “The Spaniards” follows last month’s debut of “Aeronaut,” both songs which are likely to appear throughout Corgan’s new solo acoustic U.S. tour, which kicks off Oct. 14 in Brooklyn, NY. Though seats for Corgan’s four sold-out October Pillbox screenings in London, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago will be difficult to come by, tickets to select solo live performances are currently still available.
