L7 announce first album in 20 years, share new song & video for ‘Burn Baby’

L7 are on the verge of releasing their first studio album in 20 years. Check out the lead single “Burn Baby” from the new album, Scatter the Rats, which is slated to drop May 3.

The above video for “Burn Baby,” which sees frontwoman Donita Sparks and company burning a gold record among other things, was directed by Courtney and Hillary Andujar. The newly-released track will also later be released as a 7” on Record Store Day (April 14, 2019) with the b-side “Fighting The Crave.”

Scatter the Rats was produced by Norm Block and Nick Launay. The new LP will mark the followup to 1999’s Slap-Happy and will be released via Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records.

“When we decided to make a new record, Joan was there for us as the good friend she has always been,” frontwoman Donita Sparks said in a statement. “So great to stomp into Blackheart Records with her at the helm. We’re very excited to work with Joan and the entire Blackheart family. Just imagine the family dinners!”

L7 will be hitting the road shortly after the release of Scatter the Rats as they make their way across the states alongside Rancid, Pennywise, Suicidal Tendencies and more for the new traveling festival The Bash. (More details on The Bash here)
