Morrissey postpones Canada tour dates after ‘medical emergency’

Morrissey has postponed the bulk of his Canadian tour in the wake of a medical emergency. 2019 was to mark the artist’s first Canadian tour in 15 years.

The tour was set to kick off with a two night run in Vancouver on April 14-15. These and subsequent stops in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg have all been postponed “due to a medical emergency stemming from an accident incurred while traveling in Europe.”

No further details regarding the accident or emergency are known at this time but a recent statement suggests a quick return to health for the frontman.

“Spirits are high and the artist is on the path to a swift recovery. …Morrissey looks forward to making his long-awaited return to the city and wishes to deeply thank everyone for their patience. All remaining dates on Morrissey’s tour will resume as planned, commencing in Toronto on Friday Apr 26.”

Following the Toronto and Montreal dates, which are currently still slated to take place, Morrissey will make his Broadway debut with a seven day residency at Lunt-Fontanne Theater in May before dropping his new cover album California Son.

The former Smiths singer is scheduled to tour the U.S. with special guests Interpol in the fall.
