Gypsy Punks Gogol Bordello to invade Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on June 1

Summer concert season is beginning to heat up and, with the slew of national acts slated to come through Chicago in the coming months, that means tough decisions lie ahead with regard to live entertainment. But for fans of Gogol Bordello, there is no choice as the group’s 20th anniversary assault next month on the city’s Riviera Theatre is simply a “must-see” event.

For those unfamiliar, Gogol Bordello is an American punk band with worldwide roots. The group has seven studio albums to their name with their latest — Seekers and Finders — having dropped back in 2017. Led by founder Eugene Hütz, the band is a melting pot of sorts, with members hailing from around the globe — from the United States to Russia to Ethiopia and Ecuador. Their resulting “gypsy punk” sound is a sonic fusion, combining Eastern European spirit with punk, rap, metal and dub elements.
