Netflix shares ‘Disjointed’ teaser & series premiere date


A new marijuana-centric comedy series will be debuting on Netflix later this year. Disjointed, starring Kathy Bates, arrives to the streaming service on August 25 so check out the above teaser and don’t forget to set your binge-watching calendars for the premiere.

Per Netflix, the official description for Disjointed reads, “She’s (Bates) living her dream as the owner of a cannabis dispensary. She and the budtenders — her son (Aaron Moten) and a guard (Tone Bell) — are pretty much constantly high.” The comedy series was created by Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) and David Javerbaum (The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Daily Show), who are also writing and executive producing the show. This will mark Lorre’s first comedy venture outside CBS since Dharma & Greg, which ran on ABC from 1997-2002.

Bates’ popularity on the small screen has grown dramatically with her recent run on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. Her previous TV credits include a starring role in Harry’s Law and guest roles in NBC’s The Office  as well asLorre’s Men and Mike & Molly. Disjointed marks Bates’ introduction to Netflix original series content.

Disjointed received a 20-episode Season 1 order back in July. This is the latest multi-camera series to hit Netflix, with previous ones Fuller House and The Ranch among the streaming service’s more popular original series.’ Keep an eye out for the show’s trailer in the coming months, which should give us a better sense of the series’ tone and character.
