Judah Friedlander’s new stand-up comedy special hits Netflix in October

Judah Friedlander: America Is The Greatest Country In The United States on Netflix

With October fast approaching, Halloween will be here before we know it. While the holiday is almost exclusively associated with ghouls, ghosts, goblins and such, Netflix will be offering its subscribers an alternative to the traditional spooky fare with the release of its newly-announced stand-up comedy special from The World Champion Judah Friedlander’s.

Friedlander announced his new special, America Is The Greatest Country In The United States, earlier this week via Twitter, confirming an Oct. 31 premiere date on the streaming service… so go “get a whole bunch of mums” and start assembling your couch costumes now (trucker hat anybody?) for what will surely be the supreme Halloween comedy event of 2017.

Friedlander’s forthcoming 84-minute special will mostly poke fun at American Exceptionalism, U.S. domestic & foreign policy. According to the comedian’s website, “it’s a comedy about racism, sexism, imperialism, climate change, health care, LGBTQ rights, fascism, drones and mass incarceration.”

Netflix has been on a rampage lately, releasing stand-up specials from some of the biggest names in comedy including Marc Maron, Sarah Silverman and Friedlander’s fellow 30 Rock co-star Tracy Morgan. The streaming giant most recently debuted a new special by Jerry Seinfeld, who coincidentally followed Friedlander with a surprise set of his own during a show at NYC’s Gotham Comedy Club this past March.

Judah Friedlander: America Is The Greatest Country In The United States was directed and produced by Friedlander in what he calls a “do-it-yourself low-budget documentary style that is simple, raw and intimate.” It premieres two weeks after the debut of Patton Oswalt: Annihilation, also on Netflix.

Catch Friedlander live next week at Just for Laughs and check out the below clip, which features material expected to appear in America Is The Greatest Country In The United States (though the special’s footage will be from a different show).
