Tim Heidecker, Fred Armisen & John C. Reilly team up for ‘Moonbase 8’

A24 has just announced a new comedy series titled Moonbase 8. The show, which has already begun production, will bring together a group of comedy aficionados including John C. Reilly, Tim Heidecker, Fred Armisen and Jonathan Krisel.

Moonbase 8’s first season will be made up of six episodes. According to Deadline, the series will follow “three subpar astronauts living in NASA’s Moon Base Simulator in the desert with high hopes of being the next chosen to travel through to the moon.”

Heidecker, Reilly and Armisen are set to star, while the latter’s Portlandia co-creator, Krisel, is slated to direct. Heidecker’s Abso Lutely Productions will work alongside A24 and, likewise, the four aforementioned will serve as the series’ executive producers after which the studio will look to seek out a network partnership.

Moonbase 8 is pure comic genius and we are thrilled to be a part of this show from the ground up,” said A24. “We can’t wait to introduce this fearless group of astronauts as they prepare to go where several people have gone before…but not as hilariously.”

Moonbase 8 is A24’s second independently financed TV series, following the Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt-led Comrade Detective.
