Maria Bamford, Tim Heidecker, Run the Jewels and more to guest on ‘Portlandia’ Season 7

Maria Bamford Lady Dynamite

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s hit sketch comedy show Portlandia has become widely known for its comical incorporation of guest stars over the years. And Season 7 — debuting on Jan. 5 at 10 p.m. — will follow suit as IFC has just announced the entire guest list, which includes hilarious comedians Maria Bamford and Tim Heidecker along with the hip hop duo Run the Jewels.

Bamford has been keeping busy with appearances on Ian Abramson’s 7 Minutes in Purgatory, Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening and, of course, her Netflix series Lady Dynamite. Heidecker, who recently performed at the 2016 Sound on Sound Fest back in November, wrapped Season 8 of On Cinema at the Cinema and Season 4 of Decker earlier this year and yet still found time to put out an album, In Glendale. Run the Jewels, who also appeared at Sound on Sound Fest, are expected to drop their new album, RTJ3 on Jan. 13. All parties, needless to say, should make for fantastic additions to the Portlandia guest star team.

Bamford, Heidecker and RTJ will be joined by a number of other musicians, comedians and athletes, all of whom are slated to make appearances or cameos throughout the 2017 season. Armisen’s fellow SNL alums Vanessa Bayer and Rachel Dratch will be showing face, as will John Early (Search Party, Neighbors 2), Ryan Hansen (Party Down, 2 Broke Girls), Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, Judy Greer (Archer), Sam Richardson (The Office, Veep), The B-52’s, Laurie Metcalf (Getting On, Horace and Pete), Andy Richter (Conan) and Jessica St. Clair (Bridesmaids).

Portlandia’s returning guests include Steve Buscemi, Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development, Lady Dynamite), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is the New Black) and, of course, Kyle Maclachlan — better known as the Mayor. See the full list of Season 7 guests here.
