Watch the trailer for Judd Apatow’s new Netflix comedy special

This month marks the debut of Judd Apatow‘s new comedy special The Return. Check out the trailer for the new hour-long (seen above), which will premiere later this month exclusively on Netflix.

Apatow is undoubtedly best known for his catalog of hilarious feature films including Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Bridesmaids. However, the writer-director-producer also has a list of accomplished television credits include Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Crashing and the Netflix original Love, which means it’s pretty safe to say he’s got the golden touch with regard to comedy. The release of his forthcoming hour-long will see the comedian checking off yet another box as he ventures back to the stage for his first ever stand-up comedy special.

Apatow began his career in comedy, performing stand-up as a teenager and hosting comedy shows while at USC in the 80s. He later appeared in HBO’s 15th Annual Young Comedians Special in 1992, only to then break out as a writer and producer on such shows as The Ben Stiller Show and The Larry Sanders Show, among others. 2015 saw Apatow return to the stage for a short set on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing stand-up for the first time since he went on hiatus at the age of 24 years old.

Apatow’s special was filmed at Just For Laughs Montreal on July 28 & 29. The special, which Apatow later announced during a segment on Conan, was directed by Marcus Raboy.
